Backcasting

2 tags 1 category

Backcasting is a planning method that starts with a future you want and works backward from there. Instead of asking, “What will probably happen?” it asks, “What do we want to happen, and what steps could get us there?” Jewish futurism uses backcasting to turn imagination into action.

Definition: To identify the actions required in order to reach a proposed future.

Wikipedia Summary

Backcasting is a planning method that starts with defining a desirable future and then works backwards to identify policies and programs that will connect that specified future to the present. The fundamentals of the method were outlined by John B. Robinson from the University of Waterloo in 1990.
